Henry Medical Center located in Stockbridge, GA is now officially part of Piedmont Hospital - thanks to the decision made by the Attorney General’s Office of Georgia. According to the Atlanta Business Chronicle, Piedmont plans to invest approximately $60 million in capital to the existing Henry County hospital and to help build a new campus facility in Locust Grove.
Trading investment for operational control, Piedmont’s objective is to capitalize on the south Atlanta market. Piedmont is well-known for its quality care. More than 10% of Henry County residents already travel to the Atlanta hospital to receive inpatient care; this merge will offer them the opportunity for a shorter commute.
In addition, Henry Medical Center will reap the benefits of expanding medical services, updated technology, and economies of scale. The merger will also create opportunities in the job market for local residents.
The combination of Piedmont’s reputation and financial backing with Henry Medical’s well-established facility and rapidly growing market is sure to prove a success.
